Küsters Calico Machinery Pvt. Ltd., is a manufacturer of open width wet processing machines for both woven and knitted fabrics and was established in Gujarat, India in 1996 as a joint venture of Eduard Küsters Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG (EKK) of Germany and Calico Industrial Engineers (Calico) of India.
Consequently, Eduard Küsters was taken over by Jagenberg AG, Germany and now Jagenberg AG holds 100 per cent controlling stake in Küsters Calico. Küsters Calico has installed around 500 machines in various countries worldwide.
The company has a full-fledged design office with experienced mechanical and electrical design engineers headed by a Design Head. It puts a thrust on continuous improvement in designs and developing new technologies through a separate R&D Manager. The company is spread over 45 acres of land and has a covered area of almost 125,000 sq ft. It has a modern in-house CNC machine shop, fabrication shop, glass blasting, painting, electrical panel wiring & assembly facilities to have better control over delivery and quality.
Shubhasis Sur, Assistant General Manager – Sales & Marketing was sharing his views with Knitting Views Bangladesh at DTG 2018 in Dhaka. Küsters Calico is a one stop source for processing various woven and knitted fabrics and has machines like Desizing and Singeing; Bleaching, both in single and double stage steamer; Mercerising; Washing; Dyeing in cold pa batch and pad steam and lastly, Dewatering in its wide product portfolio, while the ‘S-Roll’ technology introduced by Kusters is renowned worldwide.
“In wet processing, one of the important points to achieve better result is to have even application of dyes / chemicals / water to get even result (Cold Pad Batch). This is possible through our optimum nipcontrol’S- Rolls’ with continuous deflection control: By giving maximum flexibility. Additionally, we have innovative solutions with manifold applications in our washing range with vertical fabric passage,” he explained.
Küsters Calico currently exports around 70 per cent of its production to Europe, Egypt, Turkey, Bangladesh, Thailand, the US, Korea, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Iran, Russia, Middle East and Africa, with the balance sold in India. The company has supplied its lines to renowned companies in several countries like Arvind, Raymond, Bhaskar Denim, Kipas Denim, Mafatlal, S Kumars, Birla Century, Royal Classic, Premier, PT Kahatexetc, to name a few.
Textile Associates Ltd is the channel partner of Kusters Calico in Bangladesh and has a team of well experienced Sales Manager and two dedicated local service personnel, who have been trained for both mechanical & electronics side. Also in order to meet any emergency and replacement for this emerging market, Küsters Calico has decided to keep a stock of emergency spares with Textile Associates Ltd. These initiatives will help Textile Associates to attend to any breakdown in the minimum time.
“We have established our presence in Bangladesh long back and recent supply of our lines is running at NZ Fabrics and Mithela, Narayanganj, Bangladesh,” he informed. Apart from textile machinery, the company is also designing and manufacturing coating and laminating machines for converting industry in technical support from Polytype Converting, Switzerland, a Jagenberg AG Group Company. It has a number of installations worldwide and the stateof- art machines operate on speeds above 500 mtr per minute. “Küsters Calico is all set to cope up with market development and ready to servevalued customers of Bangladesh as well as globally.
